Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility (AMRF)
LOCATION
Bradfield City, Bringelly, NSW, Australia
Known as the First Building, AMRF is located at the Education and Innovation Quarter of the new Bradfield City, Bringelly NSW, part of the Western Sydney Aerotropolis.
The 2800sqm, $72 million building features a visitor centre and public viewing spaces designed to showcase the real-time building progress of Australia’s newest sustainable, connected city.
Bradfield City Centre is one of the biggest urban development projects ever undertaken in Australia and the first major city to be built in over 100 years.
Architect’s statements:
As the first building for Aerotropolis, it sets a benchmark for the city to follow based on an ethos of being ‘connected, green and advanced’.
It promotes design that is of its place and connected to Country.
The building has been conceived as a ‘kit of parts’, its timber structure comprising prefabricated modular components that are mechanically fixed together.
INNOVATION
The First Building will have an important role in activating the manufacturing ecosystem in Bradfield City Centre and across the wider Western Sydney region.
It’s the start of a new industry-led ecosystem connecting and attracting local and global industry partners.
SUSTAINABILITY
The building design achieves a 5.5 Star Green Star rating and observes Living Building Challenge aspirations, while aligning with the Aerotropolis master plan Urban Design Report principles and State, Regional and Local sustainability agendas.
